SKY Perfect JSAT Forms Strategic Capital and Business Partnership with SpeQtral

SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation (Head Office: Tokyo; Representative Director, President & Chief Executive Officer: Eiichi Yonekura; “SKY Perfect JSAT”) announced today that it has entered into a strategic capital and business partnership with SpeQtral Pte. Ltd. (Head Office: Singapore; CEO: Chune Yang Lum; “SpeQtral”). Through this partnership, SKY Perfect JSAT and SpeQtral will jointly accelerate the early commercial deployment of ultra-secure satellite communications services leveraging quantum cryptography technologies in the 2030s.

​SpeQtral is a leading company in satellite‑based Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and has successfully advanced two quantum communications technology demonstration missions. Its latest mission, SpeQtre^*, was recently launched and is primed to be amongst the first missions by a commercial entity to demonstrate space-to-ground quantum links. SpeQtral plans to launch its first commercial QKD satellite demonstrator, SpeQtral‑1, in FY2027, further strengthening its position as a frontrunner in the satellite QKD market. Since FY2018, SKY Perfect JSAT has been studying the commercialization of satellite QKD, and this new partnership marks the next major step in advancing that initiative.

By combining their respective strengths, SKY Perfect JSAT and SpeQtral will expedite the development of satellite‑based quantum cryptography technologies and contribute to the realization of safe and reliable information distribution.
